Revolution….rallies…strikes…

That’s how everybody remember when people power in the the Philippines occurred in 1986. That time our country faced in extreme chaos and destruction of our constitution. Who would have thought that many Filipinos suffered  and others claimed received injustice and human rights violation under former President Ferdinand Marcos adminsitration, this was why people power in EDSA (Epofanio Delos Santos Avenue) took place. Cardinal Sin summoned the Filipino to march along EDSA to show their protest.
February 25, 1986.Revolution. Filipinos showed their strong force and unity and wanted to end the tyrant regime of Marcos. However, our country was praised of distinct bloodless revolution. Our strong faith armored and shielded the marine troops for our nuns hanged rosaries and kneeled  in their tanks so that any bloodshed will be prevailed. And truly, we were able to achieve freedom and oust Marcos in our country. When Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Sr. returned to the Philippines and shot and killed at the airport on August 21, 1983. That day marked the Filipinos to learn to fight. While on grieved, his wife Corazon C. Cojuangco decided to continue the advocacy her husband started.
And our country made another history. People proclaimed Corazon C. Aquino and took oath as the 11th president of the Republic of the Philippines. With all these situations happened, we would still see how Filipinos value camaraderie and strong unity. We fought as one. But the spirit remained calm.  It is a pride of every Filipino because people power achieved the true meaning of freedom. It is an open knowldege that in some other countries when people fight back against their president, result is chaotic. Still, I am proud to be a filipino.
As a student, the privileges and the freedom I am enjoying right now has a big part  from the  EDSA people power revolution.Technically speaking, I may not be a part of the rallies and demonstraions on that time but thank you to my fellowmen because if not for them who fought for the freedom of the next generation, I can say, that whatever I am enjoying right now as well as my other fellows, would have been not realized. As I grow old, raising my own family, I make it sure that I will be  responsible of passing the knowledge to my children the importance of people power. One must bear in mind the heroic deed everyone showed during people power and that every Filipino is accountable in taking care of our nation and no one should allow that 1986 revolution happen again.
